Harvey Gary Williams Jr.

“At age three my mother gave me a camera and I snapped an image of my brother. That picture, that moment frozen in film, still sits framed in my mothers house to this day. The first picture I ever took and I think the moment I became a photographer. “

- Harvey G. Williams

Harvey spent his formative in West Philadelphia, where he gained a passion for theater and music as well as photography. He studied at the historic Walnut Street Theater, as well as preformed in the prestigious Archdiocesan Choir of Philadelphia for Pope John Paul II among others. At 19 Harvey began preforming throughout the greater Philadelphia with an R and B band called Forever Friends.

In college Harvey took a photography class that forever changed his life and turned what was once a fun hobby into a lifelong passion. He loved watching the process of creating a beautiful image from start to finish. From framing a shot, to feeling out the perfect moment to click the shutter, from mixing the developers in a dark room, to watching your blank page transform into a representation of a moment in time before you eyes, Harvey fell in love with the art of photography.

Harvey believes that every subject is their own unique masterpiece, and that it is not the photographers job to change what you look like, but to bring out the beautiful/powerful/loving/shy/extra ordinary soul they are and capture the image of YOU in the lens.

Harvey is an entrepreneur, photographer, director, actor, singer, and musician based out of the DMV area. He brings his energetic and optimistic personality to every shoot as well as his incredible work ethic and determination. Harvey has thirty years of experience in the industry he brings with him to every secession. That experience coupled with Harvey’s artistic and creative mind and skills provide a fun and professional photography experience.

Since that moment Harvey has always had a camera at his side. For a long time it was his trusty Canon AE-1, and old school black and white film where he found his passion.

As the times have changed so has the medium in which he primarily shoots. But no matter whether analogy or digital Harvey’s abiding love for photography continues to grow.
